Making coin and scan payment work together for an equipment maker

The client wanted digital payment on an existing coin-operated product but lacked a complete plan for occupancy, charging and orders. YIIIOT integrated the controller, firmware and payment services around one usage workflow.

Illustrative story. The customer, conversation and outcome are examples, not a delivered customer project or measured result.

The client’s existing coin-operated product needed another payment method

The equipment maker brought its controller, coin mechanism and charging behavior to YIIIOT. It wanted familiar coin use to remain while supporting people who preferred to scan and pay.

Available components covered separate functions but left overlapping payments, occupied equipment and service completion uncoordinated. The client commissioned us to integrate that work.

We want to keep coin payment and add scanning. If both happen around the same time, how does the machine decide what to do?

YIIIOT walked through both usage journeys

We mapped coin and digital use with the client, focusing on overlap: what a busy device displayed, when it accepted payment and how a service ended.

Existing mechanisms and charging logic were assessed for reuse. Necessary interface and firmware changes were explained in terms of the experience they supported.

We integrated payment with device use

YIIIOT developed controller adaptation, firmware states, payment integration and operating records. Starts, extensions, completions and interruptions could be related to a payment or authorized action.

Checks covered delayed notifications, restarts and overlapping operations under the agreed rules. The client’s operators helped review messages and records.

The client received a version its operators could use

The illustrated solution resolved the client’s gap between new payment channels and equipment states. Users had defined instructions, and staff could follow how a service started and ended.

YIIIOT handed over interfaces, charging states and exception procedures. The client had a basis for assessing later channel or pricing changes and their required checks.
