Giving a factory a practical route to connect legacy equipment

The client wanted a common view of machines from different generations, but interfaces and production constraints had stalled earlier proposals. YIIIOT assessed access and developed acquisition and platform integration for the agreed equipment.

Illustrative story. The customer, conversation and outcome are examples, not a delivered customer project or measured result.

The client brought its own machines and retrofit concerns

The factory operated machines from different years and suppliers. Some exposed communication interfaces; others had only local displays. Earlier proposals each addressed part of the client’s requirements.

Production continued, and the client needed existing controls protected. It commissioned YIIIOT to coordinate equipment access, firmware and platform development within permitted site conditions.

These machines run every day. Before we touch them, who can explain what the change will mean for production?

We established what the site could accommodate

YIIIOT worked with equipment, production and IT staff to confirm required data, manufacturer documentation, access permissions and downtime windows for each machine.

Protection of existing controls and unresolved conditions were recorded. We agreed a suitably documented first machine with the client.

YIIIOT connected the first machine to the platform

We implemented the agreed acquisition and communication interfaces, gateway or firmware handling and platform connection. Site staff confirmed wiring, disengagement and recovery arrangements.

The implementation and checks informed assessment of later equipment. Different protocols or missing documentation received separate consideration.

The client had an implementation it could extend and maintain

In this example, YIIIOT resolved fragmented access work and unclear implementation boundaries. The agreed equipment was integrated with the platform, with site findings guiding further rollout.

We handed over equipment lists, wiring and interface references, versions and recovery steps. The client could maintain the installation and obtain agreed development support as equipment changed.
