When a field terminal drains batteries faster than the lab predicted

YIIIOT connects radio retries, sampling and sleep behavior to the maintenance cost of a battery-powered terminal.

Illustrative story. The customer, conversation and outcome are examples, not a delivered customer project or measured result.

Why the client comes to YIIIOT

A terminal maker has a working prototype, but units in weak-signal locations need frequent battery replacements.

The client wants to retain the enclosure and sensors while deciding whether a module or battery change is justified.

A delayed routine reading is manageable. Repeated battery-replacement visits are not.

Decisions before development

We examine wake-up, registration, transmission, retries and sleep separately, including energy spent on failed attempts.

Routine readings can be batched; alarms follow a separate policy. Failed connections have bounded retries and retained records.

Engineering the product workflow

YIIIOT develops power control and firmware states, checks actual sleep entry and exposes battery and delayed-data status.

Validation covers signal quality, low battery, repeated alarms and service interruptions, with conditions recorded alongside estimates.

Handover and the next business step

The illustrated handover supports installation-specific reporting policies and a clearer maintenance offer.

Future sensors or reporting changes can be assessed against the same documented energy budget.
